Another indefinite leave of absence for Rypien...

Quote:
VANCOUVER — Canucks fourth-liner Rick Rypien has been granted an indefinite leave of absence, and defenceman Kevin Bieksa is back practising after a rinkside conversation with general manager Mike Gillis.

It is highly unusual for the GM to interrupt practice, but Gillis spoke to Bieksa for a couple of minutes as practice continued at Rogers Arena. Gillis first spoke with coach Alain Vigneault at the Canuck bench.

Bieksa is due to become an unrestricted free agent after this season. His name has been mentioned numerous times in speculative trade stories over the last two seasons.

The Vancouver Canucks announced today they have granted Rypien the indefinite leave for personal matters.

The Canucks said in a statement: “Rick is a valued member of the organization and the club will continue to support Rick in every way possible. No further comment will be made by the club on this matter.”
