Seems like you're diminishing the other wins. Two points are two points, you need the points from earlier matchups just as much as you need the points from this matchup.
A loss early in the season hurts you just as much as a loss in the last game of the season.

Technically you are right, but getting two points from an elite team like San Jose or Detroit is definitely 'bigger' and more meaningful than two points from a shitty team like the Islanders or the Flames
