I was thinking the same. I did not exactly delve any further into the details of how a restaurant is nominated or how they win, but it appears that the selection is random and based on a number of votes. There is no real criteria to meet of any sort.
Kind of like The Georgia Straight's Best of Vancouver Awards.
This sounds like a shameless promotion on behalf of HSBC promoting their banking clients.
