Totally disagree. He doesn't want to be there he should not have signed a long term deal. He owes them to honor the contract. If every player did what Heatley did the league would be totally fucked.
He can ask for a trade but do it privately, nobody should know except his agent and the GM of the team. If they can make it happen great, if not play until you're a free agent. When the other teams know you want out it effects what your current team can get for you in return. You are an asset to the team, when you hurt your value you hurt your team and your teamates.
