I'm with Trupanion. They cover 90% of vet bills (no limit on pay-outs and no illness categories as many other insurance companies have) excluding exam fees and preventative health care like routine dental cleaning, grooming, nail trim, etc.

So far, I have been very happy with them, but I am paying around $80/month for my senior Chihuahua. Having said that, I am actually saving money thanks to this policy because she is quite problematic.

I started looking into pet insurance after she ingested some soft plastic and I ended up with close to a $3000 vet bill. That incident put into perspective how a simple procedure could cost thousands out of my pocket and I really wish I started insurance way earlier.
