I would not say it's definitely the power supply... can still be other components like the motherboard... defective RAM... or even a hard drive.

Yeah, a hard drive... I had this happen to me just a few weeks ago. It seems like for some reason, the hard drive was trying to draw too much power, and the power supply has a protection mechanism to shut off the system when it detected it... so the end result was nothing happening when pressing the "On" button for the computer. Removed the hard drive, and everything is perfect.
