I'm planning a trip down there within this month, and was thinking of staying for at least a night or two....where is the best location to stay at? Somewhere that's not so far from all the eats and shopping?

Must shop places?
Must eat places?

Please recommend!

Is it worth it to drive down to Portland for shopping? And how long is the drive from Seattle to Portland?
