Plan to visit all the tourist attractions like Hollywood, Warner Bros and Disney Land. Which area and hotel would be the best to stay at to avoid spending too much time on the road?

MDR and LAX area seems to be the central (1 hour within everywhere)

Also, for car rental, are you required to purchase insurance?

Please share some of your experiences. TIA
