Nothing has changed in the past year or so. Dir-655 is the best router if you want to stick with stock firmware, no hassle and easy to set up. Rt-n16 is the best router if you want to put a custom firmware, play with vpn server, usb nas support, etc. Both are rock solid and offer decent range.
