I used to be a dedicated Seagate guy, and in the early 2000's, they had great drives with excellent reliability.

This has completely changed in the last few years... there are major reliability issues with their last couple generations of drives.

Look at the reviews of the Seagate 2TB:

29% of the reviews are single eggs... as in almost one out of every three people had a very bad experience with it.

The WD Green is better, but not by much:

24% of reviewers had a very bad experience.

So then what? I personally would choose to get the Hitachi 2TB.

Only 7% one-egg reviews.

The drive costs $10-20 more than the Seagate or WD, Considering the hassle and cost of doing a RMA on a defective drive, I will happily pay the difference to get ~20% higher reliability.

They don't distribute that Hitachi in Canada though for whatever reason... so the only place you can buy it is from NewEgg Canada.
