As the thread covers though, it really depends on what you want from your router. DIR-655 is a great router, but is missing a lot of advanced features like WDS and VPN support. You can add things like that to a number of routers by flashing DD-WRT or other third-party firmware; however, DIR-655 doesn't support most or any other firmwares.
