Had dinner tonight @ The Apron.

Just my lady friend and I. Wasn't particularly busy. Maybe 4 couples and one business guy who wouldn't stop talking on his damn phone.

I had the sunchoke soup. Lady had the scallops. I quite enjoyed the sunchoke soup and mind you, I've never had sunchoke before. It was different and was new to me. I only had a small sample of the scallop appetizer but I can say that it was tasty. I had the same amuse bouche as sr_slayerz_.

I had the sous vide pork loin. Lady friend had the steak. Both dishes were great and better than expected. I wont' go into extreme detail but I absolutely appreciate how the chef prepares his meals where you can taste the particular flavours of the ingredients used.

Dessert was the stilton cheese cake and the baklava. The cheesecake was different in which you could taste real cheese as opposed to cream cheese. This was a real surprise to me. I think there was blue and gouda for sure. Didn't try the baklava but the lady said it was pretty good.

All in all, I'd rate my experience an 8/10. The food was different and rather adventurous. Service was excellent and atmosphere was nice in a sense where it isn't quite a stuffy restaurant nor a lounge. sr_slayerz_'s comment about the identity crisis can be followed up by the fact that it is a small restaurant with the cocktail bar right there.

Would I go back? Yeah, but only when the chef updates the menu so I can try something else. I quite enjoyed my experience at The Apron.
