If time permits, stop by old town San Diego. Some of
the best authentic Mexican cuisine and hospitality in SoCal to be had. For shopping/tourist stuff, check out I think it's called Horton Plaza.
Tijuana - for a day trip, I would say no. Your way back to LA on the 405 can be a nightmare. Save your stomachs for that lobster, crab and pork chop @ Newport Seafood.
Edit: This is their
website. I haven't been to the one in San Gabriel but it looks as if they've renovated. I've only been to the one in Rowland Heights. Oh, and try their beef loc lac. Check out their menu!
