i do this too! i'm always at the library during the week of my exams cramming...no laptop, no music, and phone's on silent (doesn't even vibrate)
i study SO much better that way because i am very easily distracted
theres this only time when i put all the profs lecture recordings into my ipod and i just listened to it the whole day while reading notes...hearing the actual material helps ALOT.
People often stare at me awkwardly because sometimes i just stare into space listening to the recordings..haha good times. they think i'm a creep :P
