for me i've always wanted one since i was.. heck, 9? i saw my dads tattoo and ever since then i told myself im getting one. and its just been over a year and a bit for me to finally decide on what im getting done. it just tottally depends on how meaningful it is to you and if you have complete confidence that thats the exact tattoo you want
