Been in Fido contract since 2008
Contract ends Sept, 2011.
--------------------------------------
Currently using a $15 plan.
-50 min.
-50 sms
-$7 Caller ID

Total $22 + tax.
(Usually end up to be $30~35more because of overtexting and minutes)
----------------------------------------
I'm planning to get Data for my phone too.

Ideal Plan:
-$25
-200 Daytime
-Caller ID
-At least 250 SMS
$10 Data (flex data)
-100mb
(Dont mind signing a contract for a new phone)
----------------------------------------

My question is:
-Good time to call now?
-Would I be able to get the flex data plan? (Should I even mention the flex data plan when calling?)

I was in your situation a few months ago and successfully negotiated the following for $27.50+tax per month:

200 Daytime
Unlimited Weekends/Evenings starting at 5pm
2500 texts
Caller Display, Voice Mail
Flex Data

When I called, I told them that my contract was almost up and considered switching to Wind as they had a deal back then. They asked me what Wind's plan was and I told them, they offered me with similar options but a bit more expensive. I then told them that although that sounds like a good deal, I didn't really need all those options and began highlighting what I wanted: "Around 250 minutes, a decent amount of text as I found myself texting much more, CID, and data".

They offered what I had written above, except data was the 500gb option. I then told them that I didn't need that much as I was new to data and just wanted to try it out...see how much I need per month. He then gave me the flex data with the total price of 32.50 a month (with a $5 credit), unwilling to take it down to 27.50.

Just be nice with them, don't mention the specific options.
