That's one heck of a deal for the Canucks.
The Flyers probably could've done better. They got some high picks and a huge potential star in Brayden Schenn but that's potential when Richards and Carter were established stars in the NHL already...and still young.

Do you know who got paid $10 mill this year? Luongo. But thats not his cap hit and that isn't Bryzgalov's cap hit either. So it doesn't matter. (51/9 = 5.6 cap hit)
JVR + Carter for a backup goal (with lots of potential) and a expensive d-man who was benched in the Stanley Cup finals? Whoever suggested that is on crack. Crack.
Fact is both Richard's and Carter's production over the last two seasons have declined. Both had point totals in the 60's the last two seasons. Holmgren saw a trend. With the emergence of Giroux and JVR and addition of Schenn (who has a much higher ceiling then Richards) they look set for their top 6. Deepest D in the league as well. Now with Bryz who is a bonafide top 10 goalie in the league, the Flyers are fine.
