Keep telling yourself that. One can still have commitments and still be well accomplished with the same amount of time. You don't graduate UBC or climb corporate ladders solely because you're single and had the availability to do so. People in relationships are just as equipped to accomplish that as their single counterparts.
Unless we're talking about the types that have families/babies by late teens/early 20's.
However that being said, there are still pros in being uninvolved with anyone but IMO, the cons of singularity and celibacy outweigh that.
