Retarded on my part to completely forget about Edmonton wanting to shed a contract as small as it is. Everything else makes sense now, carry on.
LA could have just thrown Brule/Fraser down into minors and if they don't clear waivers LA would be on the hook for half the cap hit with the claiming team picking up the other half, if they do clear then there's no cap hit, right? So it's not like LA doesn't have options.
