you can buy em from the states, new, but places like Amazon wont ship it to Canada

I am very iffy about the CA version of the E4200, not sure if it can run with DD-WRT and I don't want to spend $200 on a router.

Might go with the "build my own router" method instead, just need to find space to put/hide the damn tower.
