Alright, I ain't shitting on Hoi An or anything...
But they're not like OMGWTFBBQ GREAT. What they are is home style Vietnamese food in a commercial setting and for doing that, I appreciate their great efforts. The only reason why ppl say OMGWTFBBQ AWESOME is because the standards are so fucking low in Vancouver (this is the ugly truth). Go to a Vietnamese family bbq/party and you can find this stuff done just as well as Hoi An.
I will definitely return to Hoi An as I enjoyed the food (and the view
) thoroughly. Was there w/ BCRDUKES today and we were reminded of a discussion we had a long time ago about how no Vietnamese restaurant that either of us had been to were able replicable authentic home-style flavours.
