don't purchase it
  1. shaw will not add equipment onto their network if it's been bought from an unauthorized location
  2. the sb6120 was only ever rented from shaw, there's no current way to purchase it
  3. if you do somehow manage to get the modem and call in, they won't be able to add it onto your account easily. they'll have to get it escalated to another department to add it in manually as the codes don't exist anymore for any csr/tsr to add it in for you

sorry, i forgot to specify that i'm using the motorola docsis 3 modem

if you're using the docsis 2 modem, it'll only go up to 25 Mbps. if you have a higher package, they'll give you a docsis 3 modem instead

there's no current method that i could think of for you to get the discontinued modem

I don't see any mentioning of recording TV shows with your mobile phone, etc.

Though I am aware that Shaw is planning to roll out their IPTV service in the near future, and is currently running trials with their current employees.

And it's 2HD/1SD with Telus. Like I mention in the other post, they have a poor infrastructure for their current Optik TV service.
from what i understand, the gateway is cable based

they've mentioned the possibility to be able to record from your phone.. but that's later in the future

the interface to the gateway is quite different and looks a lot better compared to the older digital terminals

i have yet to hear anything about iptv from shaw

this new shaw gateway service is intriguing. will it be the same shaw picture quality and contract free? does anyone know if it is still cable based or ip based? also when is this service launching in vancouver?

on shaws site it says this... "The Shaw Gateway Experience is currently available in Calgary and Edmonton, but it will be coming soon to other areas. Stay tuned for the
launch in your area."
it should be the same picture quality

there's no contract to it

the gateway is cable based

it's rumoured to come out by the end of this month for the rest of the shaw systems
