Depends on what you're after. Quartz is more actually more accurate, but the mechanics are very generic.
Like Sonick said, Swiss made brands like Tag and Tissot are actually respected watch brands - the companies dedicate their whole brand towards watches, Quartz or not.
But Gucci, Armani, etc. are fashion brands, and they make their watches to be more fashion accessories. So pretty much one of their designers draws a picture of what they want the watch to look like, and send it into a generic watchmaking company, likely Fossil, who then outsources to China to be made. Ironic how people still hunt for "authenticity" of these watches.
