Both B&H and Amazon now show the total price you'll be paying including shipping/tax/brokerage fees when you ship to Canada. I believe you pay a "deposit" which will cover all the fees, and if there's anything leftover, they'll refund it onto your CC - but I doubt there'll be anything left over. Good thing though - you'll know exactly how much you're paying, and don't have to pay more when it comes to your door.

That said - not all manufacturers agree to cross border shipping - some restrict retailers to selling only in the US - you'll see when you try to check out if the lens you want isn't shipping to Canada.

If you want to ship to the US - ie Point Roberts or Blaine - you don't have to pay any tax/duty up front - but when you cross the border, you risk having to pay it at customs. Usually - they're lax on camera gear, but you never know.
