played on the China server, maxed the level cap and my conclusion of the game is $$ = everything. If you don't plan on buying cash items you will have a tough time in the late game because most of your equips need to be fabricated but you don't have enough room to store all the material thus you need to spend $$ to buy additional slots in your storage.
There are a lot of other things that require $ ... but that's all on China server... perhaps north american server will be different
