Confirmed, according to HP Support Forum HP Support Forum, Precentral 1 [precentral.net], Precentral 2 [precentral.net] the demo TouchPad can be reset so that it won't install the demo software, but it still will be unable to create an account. Thanks to BluMaterial, original post below.
