In the old days, all bank tellers did was just process regular bank transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, and bill payments. Now, you have to analyze accounts and try to sell customers new products such as more expensive banking plans, credit cards, insurance policies, etc. Also, you're responsible for referring customers with extra cash to investment or lending specialists.

The requirements aren't that onerous - you need to be able to communicate, be able to handle sticky situations, and be able to sell.
