Every week they delay a product, the less money they are projected to make. It's the same reason why buggy PC games were released first and patches applied weeks/months later. Money was the primary driver of when a product was released, and it worked because everyone else operated the same way. Triangle: cost, quality, time.
Then consumer expectations changed, particularly within the mainstream, because Apple established a new benchmark, and old habits die hard with some of these managers.
