If you're traveling somewhere sunny and warm for holidays, ignore everyone suggesting a tablet - they all suck in the sun (glare), and are significantly heavier than an eReader.

I loved my Kindle on the beach this summer. No glare, lighter than a real book, so I could lean back with some shades on and read all day without fatigue.

There's nothing wrong with a single purpose device, especially when it accomplishes its purpose far better than the alternatives.
