You said you have an iPhone, and didn't mention if you also have a blackberry phone, so I thought I'd add:
Currently, as a productivity device, the Playbook is pretty useless without a Blackberry phone to "bridge" with.
There are no contacts, no email, no calendar, no bbm, and no tasks list clients on the device unless you bridge it with a BB phone.
