After some time thinking, I think the Bruins last year were similar to the '94 Canucks in many ways. Team not overly talented but everybody was firing on all cyclinders and playing well together. Made it through the regular season without raising too many eyebrows, caught some good bounces early on and moved into the finals and performed when it counted the most. The only difference of course was that they saw it all the way through to the end.

I'll have to partly agree with that. I don't think we can undersell McLean as an average goalie at best though. He was the first millionaire on the Canucks, made the all-star team twice, played on a team that was average, and also helped lead the Canucks to division titles against stronger but declining Calgary and Edmonton teams.

Lu is a much better goalie, but the parity in goaltenders these days is astounding. Goalies back in the day were not very good relatively speaking, Patrick Roy in his prime playing today's game would be average at best, IMO.
