I'm currently taking the course. The lectures are pretty brutal, our prof is a grad from ubc, first time teaching, Very monotone and zero enthusiasm. For two hours you're sitting in a lecture hall listening to his voice echo off the walls. He does a bad job explaining some of the points and does not involve students in discussions. The material is pretty cool but the book alone is $120 (however, an online rental is available for $75). Also, you won't be able to resell it since its improbable that they will be teaching it next semester.

The content is actually interesting. We've talked about why different leagues are set up differently, how some are competitive whereas other leagues clearly have teams that dominate (and for different reasons). For our first two assignments we had to draw hypothesis that relate to economic principles (first one for example was law of demand, very basic) or relate to a principle that was discussed in class.

Overall, I would recommend taking it if you enjoy economics and enjoy sports.
