^when did they say that? In the last season they got ambushed by like a dozen of em at their campsite in the woods. They could've easily walked along the highway and just weren't seen until last minute because they were covered by the mess of cars. Maybe it's like 28 days later where they haven't fed in a while and are starved so will coordinate together to find flesh?

yeah when rick was looking through his rifle scope i thought meh no biggie..must be at least 100m away
he puts his gun down and the walkers are like 15m away LOL
