Give my plumber a call. His name is Catalin from La Fayette Plumbing. He primarily re-pipes my bathrooms in one of our apartment buildings as they come available for reno. His number is: 604-464-0031.

My last bathroom was $1200 tax included. That was removing the old copper, installng pex and I had him install a new bathtub as well that was a bit of messing around.

Sounds like you are handy, so the main area where you can save is on prep. Have the walls open when the plumber gets there, so he can shut off the water, start removing the old pipes and install the new ones right away.

I did some quick reading, and there was a class action suit in Canada. Not sure of any further details or its funding or statute of limitations.
