That's because the Fed Reserve bank was started in that very same year. Private banks issuing money = debt to the federal government. The government needs a way to pay it back and hence, the re-institution of the federal income tax.
People need to stop focusing too much on corporation, but to re-direct their attention to the globalist bankers.
