For those that want to run the game better and not really sacrifice the graphic yet still want to gain performance. I recommend this tweak. Go to your installation folder where BF3.exe is located. Open notepad and paste the following

WorldRender.SpotLightShadowmapResolution 256
RenderDevice.TrippleBufferingEnable 0
RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
Render.DrawFps 1
WorldRender.FxaaEnable 0
WorldRender.DxDeferredCsPathEnable 0
RenderDevice.Dx11Enable 0
Render.PerfOverlayEnable 0
PostProcess.DynamicAOEnable 0

rename the file to user.cfg make sure is NOT user.cfg.txt lot's of people make this mistake.

I'm running everything on ultra with this tweak at 2560x1600 res using GTX 480. Only setting that is off is AA.
