i don't really see how you can call private address space a waste...
i am not looking forward to the days of ipv6, i enjoyed being able to memorize ip addresses. Even with ipv6 shortened notation its still a pain...
But yes, ideally ipv6 will be in use for a VERY long time. it has 340,282,366,920,938,463,463,374,607,431,768,211,45 6 possible addresses (2^128)!
