If you wanna run windows on your mac i have 3 recommendations:

vmware fusion + pretty much any version of windows
virtualbox + pretty much any version of windows
bootcamp + windows xp sp3 and up

bootcamp requires you to reboot your computer to go into windows. only use this if you're a power user (ex: play games, use cpu intensive apps). bootcamp is built into osx.

virtualbox and vmware are fairly similar. virtualbox is free and vmware cost money. vmware is more user friendly and has a few more options. this works like a window inside osx so you don't have to reboot.
