If you are having problems with monsters, get a companion. You can get one early by:

Companions make the game a lot easier in the first 10-20 levels, I recommend keeping one with you at all time, until you level up a bit.

You can get one early by: Spoiler! Talking to the warrior girl in the bar in Whiterun, you will have to beat her in a fist fight. Or you can hire the archer girl in the archer merchant, also in Whiterun Companions make the game a lot easier in the first 10-20 levels, I recommend keeping one with you at all time, until you level up a bit.
