The biggest problem with 18/19yr olds are that these kids are still growing into their body
The most skilled players can still have trouble adjusting to the bigleagues

Most kids that come out of the draft and jump to the NHL right away is that the kids still need to find their playing weight and what works. Adjustments are huge, and growth into the body cannot be forced. Just because you are 6'4 220 doesnt mean jackshit. A perfect example is Butthurtfugly, I believe he said that playing at 260 was terrible, 230 just didnt work, some random 24xlbs works.

Not saying that the kids can't adjust, its just a totally different path to adjusting to the big leagues

Improper development in terms of nutrition and how each players individual body works could hinder growth and could cause injuries.

Paired with the fact that some kids could prefer to go with an education first b4 the NHL is also a LIFE CHANGING DECISION. something these kids could fall back on in case

this is why the NBA changed their draft rules to not allow kids to jump from highschool to the NBA
