I wouldn't go with a PS3.
It's a little more expensive, so right off the bat you're paying more than you need to

Then, as soon as there's a firmware update, or if they accidentally hit a button to take them back to the XMB, they'll be like

Then they'll hit a bunch of buttons that doesn't play the video again and they'll be like

Then you'll get a call about how 'the movie is broken', and you'll think

But you're probably related to them, so then you'll have to fix it and be like


I would just go with a basic player from costco or something. Most of the cheaper ones without things like network streaming and netflix are nice and simple because they don't have other features.
