I was just caught off guard by what she did. You're right, the relationship in the last week before she had left for the States was rocky but I thought I could save it when she came back.

Yep thats the spirit. The sooner you realize how this game works, the less chance you get hurt again in the future. Just a small note on that bolded part, a lot of girls say that, so take that with a grain of salt. This is from an objective point of view. Its good that you are not looking for anything serious, good things often surprise you when you least expect it, but when you expect something, there will be disappointments.
