Telus Router SSID changed to RCMP ARE CORRUPT LOLGGNORE
Hi guys
I had the same issue this morning. Telus support (not in Canada - the guy didn't know what RCMP meant) tells me it is a Trojan that I had on my computer, that it changed the SSID from the computer side, not from the outside, and that this happened to various people with various brands of routers.
Strange.. Security Essentials reported nothing.
Admittedly I had recently reset my Siemens Gigaset SE 567 to default, meaning that the user name was ADMIN and the password "telus" and the address the standard 192.168.1.254. From my lay man's perspective it seems much more plausible that someone used those data from the outside, just randomly doing hits and misses. Why has the only other person I heard of that has this issue have the exact same router with the exact same settings?
Anyway, I reset the router, changed the password and I'm back online. If there is a directive to replace Siemens routers the support guy had not heard of it. Then again, it may take a while for that kind of information to penetrate all levels of support in the Far East.
I would be happy to get the Siemens router replaced - the quality of the connection fluctuates badly and it needs a reset regularly.
