I don't understand people's love for thierry. I've been there three times and been wholy unimpressed - I just kept going back like an abused girlfriend because I was convinced there was something I was missing.
The croissants are dry and taste like cardboard -> faubourg kicks their ass there.
I had the black forest cake and it was absolute garbage. You could get the same thing at a grocery store for cheaper. I had another one that was also completely forgettable. Maybe I made poor choices, but ganache makes far better cakes than thierry.
The only thing that I would spend money there on are their macarons (goddammit people, stop calling them macaroons!) and they're not "OMG, YOU CAN'T MISS THEM" good. They're fine.. but that's it.
