Like Stylin said, there's not much to Phuket other than beaches and a nasty strip of tourist trap. It's not my preference when visiting Thailand, but the beaches are really nice.
I stayed at the Royal Meridien Yacht Club which was a Sheraton back then (which is why I stayed there, we got a huge discount from a family member). It's not a Sheraton anymore, but I would still highly recommend it. Now it's just called
