All that being said... I would also say avoid the revenge route. Remind her that it really bothers you and that since a relationship is a two-way street with communication being a key component, and if she's not willing to address this issue, then maybe it'd be best to part ways before it gets worse.

I think he should do it. Not so much for revenge, but more for himself. Why should he put in the effort if she isnt going to? A relationship isnt take take take. You gotta give a little to get a little and it takes both of you to solve even little issues.
If she gets her panties in a bunch over him not texting/contacting her, then obviously she's going to have to compromise instead of letting him do all the work. If she isnt willing to do that, then he knows what he has to do, because clearly him voicing his concerns doesnt mean shit to her as of now
