Vapor XVI will soften up and only improve ever so slightly with molding. Since theyre used theyre probably broken in already and molding wont do a whole lot. The difference is much greater in higher end skates.

He's not molding a brand new pair of skates, so a good quality hair dryer should make enough heat to heat the material around the ankle area. Now the question is how worn or the skates?
