I think the hospital experience/pharmacy experience is whats turning down most programmers/software engineers... IT definetly has a very big job market and most looking for a career in the field are hungry for a job.... My mom does recruiting for jobs similar to the descriptions you have mentioned, and so far she has been turning down alot of people... Not too long ago, I know of a guy who was in desperate search for a job, and landed with a clinical job ie. programming, database, etc (I won't be exposing the name of the company) with many years of systems analyzing experience but with zero clinical experience.... I really think that the clinical experience really shouldn't be a requirement so much as it should be just an asset.. If they really know what they're doing, it wouldn't really be that hard to adapt to the health/pharmacy environment
