I can see that there's quite a bit of people working in the industry sifting through this forum. Their posts have been informative and helpful (you know who you are

) And for those who shared pics of your DIY projects--thank you for sharing and building up this forum. No pun intended :P
By no means am I an expert, but I do enjoy trying. Plus, I save myself some money.
Anyways the latest install has been this programmable thermostat. I was pissing in my pants because I took a gamble with it possibly not working. With the help of the internet researching and googling honeywell, I managed to do it. I'm sure there may be some things I missed, but the experts on here can help me
Old analog thermometer.
Reading the manual. Getting my tools out. Researching. Prepping.
Analog cover off. That mercury is super sensitive, so watch out. Also note the LONGER written..
Yank it out. Oh shit. two wires. There's like 5 slots in the new one.
I followed my instinct and plugged the White wire in the W and the blue wire in the R's (there's a jumper that joins the two).
So far my furnace is working, so I'm happy. I've got to read up on how to program it though. I can adjust it to save more energy costs. Thoughts?
