I believe rule of thumb for flex rating when cutting is 5flex stiffer per 1". 2flex softer when adding 1".
Shaft/blade combo is another option like Mickz mentioned. I'd stay away from low end OPS and get the more expensive wood sticks and just work on your shooting form.
